 Merry Falls are a combination split falls and cascade. The falls split at the top, free-fall 10 feet and join back together to cascade another 20 feet. One side of the split has a heavier flower than the other. Always be careful around waterfalls. They can be very slippery, and emergency medical services are usually a long way away.   Directions: From Brevard, take US 276 south for eight miles to Cedar Mountain. Turn left onto Cascade Lake Road and go 2.5 miles. Road will change from paved to gravel. Continue another 1.8 miles. The falls will be on the left. You have to scramble down the bank for the views pictured above. All photos © Allen Easler. |
