![]() A slow drive around Lake Rabun is required to get to Minnehaha Falls, but they are worth the wait. Fall Creek cascades a noisy 60 feet in a cove framed with mountain laurel and thickets of rhododendron. The 1/3 mile hike is steep at first, levels out and finishes steeply to the base of the falls. You may have to cross several large fallen trees. A large, rectangular slab to the left-front of the falls provides a nice bench to rest and soak in the scenery. Directions: From Tallulah Falls, take US 441 north for two miles. Turn left onto Old Hwy 441 (look for Rabun Beach Recreation Area sign) and follow for 2.5 miles. Turn left onto Lake Rabun Road and follow for 6.2 miles. Turn left on the road just below Lake Seed dam. Go a short distance and bear left onto Bear Gap Road for 1.6 miles. A pull-out for parking will be on the left, and the trail starts on the hill to the right. All photos © Allen Easler. |
